How We Operate

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, WIMOs maintains alignment with the Better Business Bureau by investing at least 65% of our budget into Educating, Engaging, and Elevating our members. Our main sources of income have been fundraisers and membership dues. To learn more about our events, accomplishments, and budget, visit our 2024 Annual Report.

How Companies Can Pay Membership Dues

Depending on the level of involvement a company desires with WIMOs, there are three options available to ensure eligible employees can become WIMOs members:

  1. Individual Membership Dues

  2. Corporate Dues

  3. Annual Optional Sponsorship Packages

Each membership tier is outlined in detail below.

Individual Membership Dues

If a company chooses to cover only the membership dues, they will pay the annual rate for each employee who wishes to become a WIMOs member.

The second option is for companies to purchase a corporate membership. With a corporate membership, all eligible employees can become WIMOs members for one flat annual fee.

The annual corporate dues rate is determined by the company’s total number of employees, as our membership data shows that companies with larger workforces typically yield more WIMOs members.

Annual Optional Sponsorship Packages

The third and most engaging option is the Annual Optional Sponsorship Package. With this option, companies pay a single flat annual rate that covers all employee membership dues and allocates a designated amount to WIMOs fundraising events. The allocated amount varies by sponsorship tier.

Instead of paying corporate dues, we invite companies to choose from the following annual sponsorship levels:

  • Platinum, Gold, and Silver (Member Company Options): These levels are available to companies with a maritime operations component.

  • Bronze (Non-Member Company Option): This is suitable for companies outside of maritime operations, such as law firms, consulting firms, and insurance brokers.

Sponsorship Allocation

Each sponsorship level contributes to two primary funds:

  1. Education, Membership, and Administration (EMA) Fund:

    • Covers annual corporate dues.

    • Supports educational events, webinars, and the organization’s back-office operations.

  2. Event Fund:

    • Supports WIMOs fundraising events.

    • Offers annual sponsors discounted pricing compared to individual event sponsors.

    • Provides first-booking preferences.

    • Includes a set amount per sponsorship level.

Sponsors can customize their event mix each year. If the desired event mix exceeds the Event Fund amount, additional items can be purchased a la carte.
